In early 2025, italki announced a fee adjustment that took effect on February 1st. This change increased the commission to 21% for one-time lessons while keeping their fees unchanged for 15- and 20-lesson packages.

Although this adjustment came as a surprise and was initially met with concern, it’s clear that italki aims to encourage student consistency through a model that promotes long-term learning.

At first, I considered keeping my prices the same, thinking the increase might not have a significant impact on my earnings. However, over time, I realized that it did.

Additionally, since many teachers have had to adjust their prices due to this change, I want to keep my rates fair with the market while continuing to provide high-quality lessons.

With this in mind, I’ve adjusted my lesson structure to align with this new approach while ensuring the best learning experience possible. 

These changes weren’t an easy decision, but they’ve led me to create exciting new and improved classes—more effective, more engaging, and designed for even better results!
